Last week I popped by Brown Thomas to see Christian Louboutin’s SS12 collection, which is colourful, provocative and sexy, but not exclusively so. There is a softness and freshness about the collection that has been absent in previous ones. The sexuality is less overt or maybe there are just more options if fetish isn’t your gig! Anyway, I’ve met him before when I interviewed him for Grazia (see it here) and found him to be utterly charming and SO genuine. Speaking to the girls who work with him on a daily basis it seems he’s not just a media wonder but an awesome boss too. His heart and soul are in every store he opens, the image above, a painting now in the Brown Thomas space, came from his apartment in Paris. The room built with teeny wooden bricks has names and symbols dotted throughout; his commercial director’s name among others and drawings done by the architect’s son. Anyway, I’m rambling now, he’s a sweetheart so that’s why you should buy his new book. It feels like the softest, creamiest leather (it’s not leather) and having flicked through the images I love CL and his shoes even more. He had the shoes shot as still life rather than fashion photographs so that they wouldn’t date as quickly. It’s €100 and there are only 100 available in The Marvel Room at Brown Thomas…
